- #2Only if by some miracle the soundbar responds to one of the Samsung TV or audio codes built in to your Sky remote control.
Check the Sky box (Interactive > Program your remote) and follow the links on programming. You'll also need to check the 'rev' number of your remote. - #3Only if by some miracle the soundbar responds to one of the Samsung TV or audio codes built in to your Sky remote control.

Presumably if the soundbar is hooked up using HDMI ARC - which means the TV volume controls the soundbar, then that would also work?
To answer the OP - it depends how you've got the TV and soundbar connected. - #4
If both the TV and the sound bar had HDMI connections that also support ARC then yes. But so far we don't know what the TV model is, and we do know for sure that the Samsung J355 doesn't have a HDMI - or at least it doesn't according to the Samsung web site - so ARC is out of the question for that product anyway.Presumably if the soundbar is hooked up using HDMI ARC - which means the TV volume controls the soundbar, then that would also work?

The J355 has Optical which will most likely be a fixed level signal from the TV. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack but again (a) we don't know the TV model so can't say if that has a suitable output, and (b) even if it has it would still need checking whether the headphone volume is driven by the TV volume slider or from a separate sub menu.
As it stands then, until there's more info there's not a lot that can be added without venturing off in to a lot of speculation. - #5Presumably if the soundbar is hooked up using HDMI ARC - which means the TV volume controls the soundbar, then that would also work?

Hi, it's connected by optical as it does not have HDMI ARC unfortunately. - #6If both the TV and the sound bar had HDMI connections that also support ARC then yes. Hi, thank you.
The model of the TV is H6200 - #7Just try it? Have you setup the sky remote to control the tv?
If so press the volume and see if it controls the soundbar volume, if not it won't work unfortunately. The only way it would work is if the soundbar was had hdmi/arc or something like my LG TV called soundsync, which means my LG TV and LG soundbar can be both controlled by the sky remote even though the soundbar only has an optical connection. Your TV and soundbar probably doesn't have this feature by the sounds of it. - #8I am bemused by Lidtop2013's reply which basically repeats what's already been said and concludes with no positive advice at all it seem.
Anyway, the best you can hope for is that your soundbar responds to one of the Hi-Fi/AV system audio codes and then redirect the Sky remote to send 'Hi-Fi' Volume + and - commands in place of the usual TV commands.
Follow this link http://help.sky.com/articles/how-to-use-your-sky-remote-control then follow the steps in trying the various audio codes available within your Sky remote. Failing that it's either a Harmony remote or stick with two remotes on the sofa. - #9Haha Chris I was just telling him to try it, meaning get the code for the tv from the sky website etc, it may or may not work.
By the way how would a harmony remote control the soundbar if a sky remote couldn't? What's different about the harmony? - #10A Harmony is a customisable remote control. It can be programmed to control the Sky box but talk to the soundbar for audio control, and do so as if the soundbar and TV were connected by ARC.
The better Harmony remotes connect to a PC and they're programmed via an online wizard. Simply pick what makes and models of gear you have, then choose how you prefer to operate stuff such as audio from the soundbar instead of the TV speaker, and the wizard does most of the rest. There's also 'Activity macros' which means the remote can issue a series of IR commands to turn everything on and select the correct TV input from one single start button, or change the inputs and switch on a BD player for playing movies. They're a good idea for any family with several audio/video devices all hooked together. No more 'How do I play a DVD?'
