Born on 19th of August, 1964 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, she is an actress who has acted in various Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi language films. She was nicknamed “Baby Sumathi” as she worked in a lot of films as a child actress. She has seven brothers and three sisters, all of whom were taken care of by their mother while her father managed several businesses.

She followed her elder brother, Master Prabhakar, into the film industry, as he was the first in the family to do so. To do so, both of them moved in with their aunt in the year 1966. She started out, as a child actress, by playing the role of the daughter of veteran actor Gopi in the late 60’s, after which she went on to act in various films. She played dual roles and also essayed roles of boys.
She also started acting in various Telugu and Malayalam movies. She won many Nandi and Filmfare awards as a child actress. Television serial actress Rachana, who gained popularity for her roles in the serials like Mahanadi, Triveni Sangama and Madhu Bala, has died tragically in a car accident.
Along with Rachana (23), her co-actor in various serials, Jeevan (25), also breathed his last. Coincidentally, Jeevan was the one behind the wheels. Aadade aadharam serial cast and crew names.
Tragedy struck the two unlucky serial actors in the wee hours of today morning, August 24, near Solur in Magadi Taluk. Jeevan, who was driving his Tata Safari, collided with a tractor which was at a standstill by the road side, which caused spot death of both Rachana and Jeevan.
Along with Rachana and Jeevan, five more were travelling in the same car but have escaped with no lethal injuries. Ranjith, Uttam, Honnesh, Karthik and Erik were also part of Mahanadi serial, who all played supporting cast.
